Yorkshire Water, Hull Wastewater Treatment Works Design/Build Program
Yorkshire Water (YW) in , Leeds, Yorkshire, United Kingdom is planning a new wastewater treatment system, valued at £300,000,000, to serve an urban population of 900,000,000 at Kingston upon Hull in the U.K. LZA conducted partnering and value engineering workshops to establish team goals and objectives and define the concept design for review and approval by the YW Board of Directors.
The partnering workshop consisted of key representatives of YW, its design engineer, the design-build contractor, and the program management team which consisted of five framework partners, of which LZA's affiliate, CDG International, was the lead firm. Representatives from each organization attended the week-long workshop. LZA facilitated the session to establish common goals and write a team charter, signed by all participants.
A significant accomplishment was the teaming of the design engineer of record, who had been involved in the initial design development, with the design-build contractor, who had just been hired by the owner to perform detailed design and construction for the project. The participants prepared procedures for dispute resolution and performance monitoring of the entire project and then defined project deliverables and milestone dates for the concept design.
