Los Angeles County and University of Southern California Medical Center Replacement
|
Working with program managers, Jacobs Facilities, Inc., LZA facilitated two VE studies on the Los Angeles County and University of Southern California (LAC+USC) Medical Center replacement project, which will construct a new, tertiary-level medical center that will replace the existing facilities.
The Medical Center functions as the county's primary public health care facility. It is the largest single provider of trauma and emergency services in the county. The new project will ensure the hospital continues to function as the backbone of the county's safety net and as a major regional and community emergency/trauma and critical care provider, and will remain a Level I trauma teaching hospital.
The project comprises three building components: the Inpatient Tower; the Diagnostic & Treatment Building that includes a new Central Plant and Base Isolation Level; and the Outpatient Department Clinic Building. The space program for the 600-bed project is 1.5 million gross square feet, and the probable cost of construction is about $570,000,000.
LZA, in association with Jacobs Facilities, Inc., performed a VE study on Phase I of the new SABRE Corporate Campus in Southlake, Texas. This project provides a new facility to house the SABRE Corporation and to enhance the productivity and worker environment.
Phase I of the new campus consists of two buildings and a new parking garage for a total gross square footage of 1,139,600. The project infrastructure was already under construction at the time of the VE study. The estimate for construction was $66,648,630.
Study results are confidential.

George Mason University, Academic Building Phase IIIA
|
George Mason University retained LZA to perform a VE study on its Academic Building Phase IIIA, located on the University's Prince William Campus in Prince William County, Virginia.
The project is a 100,000-gross-square-foot building to provide more than 1,100 classroom seats and 150 instructional laboratory seats. Faculty offices, a television studio, and a telecommuting center are also included.
The estimated cost of construction at the time of the study was $14,691,704. The VE team addressed issues of cost, aesthetics and meeting the requirements of the campus master plan.
